An Additional Note from Our President

Congregation Keneseth Israel is preparing to say farewell to Vikki Dunn as she retires, but we are doing so in a spirit of joy as we celebrate all that she is and all that she has done for Keneseth Israel. The 2023 Advertising Mailer and Directory will be a tribute to heryears of service, and her contributions to the life and congregants of KI.

Vikki joined KI immediately after moving to the Lehigh Valley from Vermont, following her husband, David, who was taking on a new position. While she had never worked as a Jewish professional before, her years as Director of Operations at Mary Meyer Stuffed Toys and Tree Spirit, along with congregant and board experience at Congregation Shir He Harim, prepared her well.

Vikki has embraced life in the Lehigh Valley and at Keneseth Israel, sharing such family joys as graduations, three marriages and two grandchildren with our congregation. Vikki and David jokingly say that they have single handedly been responsible for an increase of tourism in the Lehigh Valley as they import friends and family from around the US.

As a congregant as well as Executive Director, Vikki has led with compassion, joy and love and looks forward to years of involvement at KI as a congregant, volunteer and participant.

We want to invite you to take part in our Tribute Book by placing an ad with words of support, friendship and love, something that speaks to the personal relationship you and Vikki have shared. There are all different sizes and types, but your support at any level will mean a great deal.

Thank you for your support.

KI, Caring for the Community

Congregation Keneseth Israel is a Reform Jewish congregation located adjacent to Muhlenberg College and has been in existence since 1903. KI is first a place of worship but is much more. KI is home to a premier religious school and provides free space to a variety of human service organizations in the Lehigh Valley.

A few ways KI serves the broader Lehigh Valley community include:

  • Volunteering at Central Elementary School
  • Hosting families that are homeless as part of the Family Promise initiative
  • Sponsoring the Harvest 5k Run (Proceeds benefit local nonprofit agencies and Central Elementary School)
  • Hosting Alcoholic Anonymous meetings
  • Hosting interfaith programs that educate and impact the entire Lehigh Valley public
