Rabbi

Rabbiseth, as he likes to be called,  has been celebrating congregational and community oys and joys in Allentown since 2012 when he retired as a chaplain in the United States Navy. Prior to that, he was a civilian rabbi in Naples, Fl and Melbourne, Australia. As his memento filled office shows, rabbiseth knows that life happens when and where you let it in…and so does Judaism. As a marathon runner, he knows that pacing and patience are the keys to successful relationships. His leadership and collaborative partnership with staff and volunteers have created a caring community where “conversations that matter” take place on many subjects.

Seeing Allentown’s only Reform community as a place of comfort and continuity, he has sought to empower members to find their own ways to live Jewishly, to express their passions for tikkun olam and spirituality. rabbiseth sees the Lehigh Valley as his ship and has formed meaningful connections with ALL the Jewish agencies and synagogues in the Valley, as well as with interfaith and social justice causes. He is especially proud of the involvement of KI members on community boards and as associate members of other synagogues. That there are Orthodox and Conservative families who also are associate members of KI speaks to the engaging and inclusive nature of his work.

A gifted teacher, an uplifting speaker, a comforting presence at life cycle events, rabbiseth is known for his matching ties and socks. The Lovely Marge has shared him with Sailors and congregants for 16 years and counting. Together they share 3 children, 1 grandchild, a love of travel and crossword puzzles.
