Shabbat Out of the Box: Printmaking with Susan Hardy
Saturday, March 19, 2022 • 16 Adar II 5782
10:00 AM - 11:00 AMAn Exploration in Printmaking
Last year, art teacher Susan Hardy led our virtual Mandala creations workshop and several of the attendees’ beautiful creations were then featured in KI’s Super Seder Sacks. Join Susan in person this year as she leads us through our next artistic adventure: an exploration in printmaking!
In this class, you will learn a basic technique in printmaking; monoprints.
Printmaking is the transfer of an ink image from one material to another. Monoprints do not create repeated prints, just one unique work. This type of printmaking is especially explorative. It is all about just trying and seeing what happens…it’s better going into it without a plan and just enjoying the process.
Materials that will be Provided:
- Printing paper
- Gelli plates/ plexi glass
- Printing Ink
- Brayers
- Paintbrushes
What You Need to Bring:
- Old clothes or a smock (the materials do not stain but get everywhere!)
- Willingness to Experiment
- Optional: Materials that can printed with… bubble wrap, lace, ribbon, plants (these items would get printing ink on them)
