Celebrating our 4th year of creative and interesting activities to inspire your Shabbat experience.

  • Outdoor activities are weather permitting.
  • Some activities may be zoom accessible as well as "in-person."

Everyone is welcome so please feel free to bring your friends and family. All events are free.

September: Shabbat Yoga

  • Date: September 10th, 2022
  • Time: 10:00 am -11:00 am

Back by popular demand! Take time to slow down and be fully engaged in the moment as Jett Ulaner Sarachek and Audrey Nolte lead us through gentle yoga set to prayers and music that will soothe the body and soul. Please bring a mat or heavy towel and water. Ages: 12 and up.

October: Origami

  • Date: October 8th, 2022
  • Time: 10:00am-11:00am 

Come join local origami artist Arlene Gorchov (and some special KI helpers) as we explore the ancient practice of transforming flat pieces of paper into 3-dimensional shapes and figures.  Origami can not only calm the soul, but it also helps develop hand-eye coordination, fine motor skills, and mental concentration.   Ages: 9 and up.

November: Hiking

Shabbat is a special time to enjoy nature and be grateful for the world around us. Join Melissa and Harvey Hakim for a vigorous hike as we get our heart rates up and notice the beauty of the world that surrounds us.  Everyone welcome.

December: Card Making for our Elders

  • Date: December 10th, 2022
  • Time: 10:00 am – 11:00 am

In 2021, we brought Hanukkah cheer to more than 75 Jewish elders in the Lehigh Valley community. Join Lynda Pollack once again for a morning of fun, creativity, and kindness as we make Hanukkah cards that will be delivered to our Jewish seniors. Art supplies will be provided.

Note: Women of KI will be making cookies to include with the cards. We invite you to participate in this as well.  Ages: 7 to 100.

January: Havdalah, Sing-a-long, and Dinner

  • Date: January 14th, 2023
  • Time: 5-7 pm

Chase away the winter blues with Rabbi Phil as we mark the close of the Sabbath and transition into the beginning of the week with Havdalah, songs, and togetherness.  All ages welcome!

February: Six Word Memoirs

  • Date: February 11th, 2023
  • Time: 10:00-11:30 am

Can you tell your life story in six words? Please come out and see what you discover about yourself.

For this creative Shabbat, Michele Salomon will guide attendees in writing stories with just six words.  A project of SMITH Magazine, six word memoirs offer a simple, creative way to get to the essence of anything – your life, your connection to Judaism (or KI), the weekly Torah portion or anything else.  Participants in the past were delighted and surprised by the depth and fun of this writing form.  Ages: 13- up.

March: Art with Susan Hardy

  • Date: March 11th, 2023 
  • Time: 10:00 am – 11:00 am

For the last two years, we have been inspired by art teacher Susan Hardy as she has taught us new techniques and helped us tap into our inner creativity.  This year, we will explore the ancient art of linoleum printing.  No art experience necessary; supplies will be provided. Ages 10-100!

April: Havdalah and Game Night 

  • Date: April 15th, 2023
  • Time: 6:30 pm-9 pm

Why not extend the special feeling of Shabbat into the rest of the week with an evening of play?  Join in the fun with a Havdalah service, games and refreshments.    Ages: 6 and up.

May: Bike, Walk and Picnic

  • Date: May 13th, 2023
  • Time: 10:00am -12 pm

What better way to honor Shabbat than to enjoy nature in the Springtime?  Whether you like to walk, run, bike or sit still, we will gather for a brief, gentle yoga warm-up, followed by an activity of your choice.  Afterwards, we will enjoy a picnic lunch (bring your own).  All ages welcome.
