Everyone loves a beautiful garden, but what if our gardens and our yards could be more than just beautiful? They could do so much more:
- Provide habitat for birds and other wildlife
- Preserve Pennsylvania’s biodiversity
- Reduce storm water runoff
Our gardens could do all this while also conserving water, reducing maintenance, and lessening the need for pesticides and fertilizers!
Gardening involves working with nature, rather than fighting with nature.
What if everything you planted thrived in the clay and rock of the Lehigh Valley? Well, all this is possible by choosing native plants for your landscape.
Maryann and Elsbeth will give a four-season tour of their gardens, highlighting their native plants and the creatures that depend upon them. You’ll learn what makes a plant a native, and why natives are so important to our ecosystem.
You’ll learn how using native plants can eliminate the need for unpleasant gardening tasks like spreading mulch, watering, and even mowing. You’ll get to see the plants that will be placed around our new KI signs, in their mature form.
